BMBSCC/HQ Was proud to present the 10th R/C Banger world final kindly sponsered by Kamtec Bangers.
Over the previous months there was three qualifying rounds where the top 17 qualifiers took there place on the world final grid.
On the night three last chance heats were run with the winner from each heat getting there chance in the world final itself.
Heat one saw a very packed heat with the lead changeing hands all the time but 48 Chris Norman from Skegness came through to take the win with his Mk2 Granada.
Heat two saw another action packed & very close race between Wycombe's 210 Dan Martin & 17 John Twiggs, this one came down to the last lap with 17 John Twiggs from Stockport taking it with his Mk1 Granada.
Heat 3 also see a fair share of wrecking & racing from the drivers, a great drive by Ipswich driver 617 Jason Thurlow took his place on the grid for the big one winning his heat by 8 laps.
New for this year all drivers were given a hand out motor which drivers picked from the box supplied with thanks to Mardave.
All motors were soldred in & fitted drivers took up there grid posisition with 96 John Wiggins drawing pole posistion.

As the count down commenced the tension & excitement between drivers was growing & we was away with a big pile up on the first bend, just 5 laps in & 83 Paul Towers had his race ended after tangaling with 999 Phil Wood & 536 Scott Waite who broke down on lap 8, 17 John Twiggs was next out of the running though dished ot some good hits & was joined by 154 Iain Quarman who's Majestic Limo caught light after 11 laps, 48 Chris Norman was next to retire after 15 laps with the rest of the field battling hard 96 John Wiggins was getting going but finished 15th on 27laps, 617 Jason Thurlow 14th on 35 laps, 13th 294 Liz Cross on 40 laps with 12th place 11 Jerry Foulkes just pipping Liz on split time, a great effort from Jerry who left a wedding in Leeds to race in the final !.
151 Graham Coles came home 11th on 43 laps with 10th going to skegness driver 45 Glenn Adcock, 9th went to the current european champion 999 Phil Wood with meeting sponser & Kamtec owner 9 Keith Dowsett next in 8th, with 228 Karl Dilworth 7th, Hastings 331 Tom Stearn 6th, 47 Rob Coles 5th, 355 Rob Forbes 4th with the top three after 60 laps, 3rd 54 Alec Quarman, runner up and defending champion 627 Mike Richardson with his brother 626 Matt Richardson taking the title & his first world final win, congratulations to Matt from the High Wycombe club.
For the last two years a limousine took the title with this year 626 Matt raced the popular Mk1 Granada saloon from Kamtec.
